Sarah Jones QC of Pump Court Chambers is currently defending murder suspect Shaun Dyson accused of killing his estranged wife.

Mr Dyson, 28,  is accused of killing, Lucy-Anne Rushton by repeatedly stamping and jumping on her at her home in Andover, Hampshire. A jury at Winchester Crown Court heard a tearful Mr Dyson say “I feel broken, ashamed, devastated for Lucy, heartbroken for our family. It’s been six months and it doesn’t feel real”. Mr Dyson and Ms Rushton met when they were at school together and the couple married in 2010 when they eloped to Gretna Green. The defendant admitted that their relationship, had its ups and downs and that they split permanently in January 2019.

The defendant told Winchester Crown Court he had been to a pub in the afternoon of the alleged murder with Ms Rushton before they had a drink together in her garden. He said the mood turned violent between them after they drove to a supermarket but he failed to enter the store before it closed because he had stopped to talk to some friends.
