Pump Court Chambers

At Pump Court we’re aware that anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexuality or background.

We know that the ‘stay at home’ restrictions aimed to stop the spread of Covid-19 made abuse in homes more frequent and more dangerous.  Home isolation, although important in managing the threat of coronavirus, gave more power to the abuser and shattered support networks.

Our members are dedicated to offering services to those suffering and those at risk. Our members want to use their experience and skills to practically help. We are here to support clients during these difficult times.

The team, led by Penny Howe KC, work hard to support clients both from a legal and emotional perspective. We are able to provide experienced empathetic advice – and representation for Court hearings nationwide and at short notice. Our members are fully enabled to conduct remote hearings by telephone or video.

We advise and represent clients on a wide range of cases under the Family Law Act 1996 and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 including:

  • Non-molestation orders
  • Occupation orders
  • Transfer of tenancy
  • Forced marriage protection orders
  • Female genital mutilation protection orders
  • Prohibited Steps orders

Our barristers also have significant experience in cases with concurrent family and criminal proceedings, with a wealth of experience in family-related crime including murder, assault and sexual abuse.

Experience at all levels of call we have a proven track record of achieving justice for victims of domestic abuse. Our team features a Deputy High Court Judge, Recorders and Deputy District Judges.  We also work closely with domestic abuse charities and local authorities to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.

Our barristers are currently offering 30 minute introductory conference free of charge and reduced rates for representation at hearings. If you’re a solicitor and wish to enquire about this, please click here or contact our clerks on 020 7353 0711.
