The complainant was raped at age 15 in 1991 in a tent in a park. The complexity in the case was largely due to the fact that the case went back to the 1990s, as she reported the rape to the police in her late 40’s. The complainant had kept a diary recording the incident. She said in evidence that she had remained silent for years because she blamed herself. Through counselling, she realised it was not her fault.
