We are delighted to announce that Paul Mertens has been shortlisted for the Inquests & Public Inquiries Junior of the Year at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2026.
Paul is Head of Pump Court Chambers’ Inquests and Inquiries team and has been involved in many of the most prominent public inquiries of recent years, including the Southport Public Inquiry, UK Covid-19 Inquiry and Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. He has significant experience of working for Inquiry counsel teams and of representing core participants and witnesses before an Inquiry. Paul has a specialist interest in information rights (data protection, freedom of information, breach of confidence / privacy / Article 8) and has provided expert advice and training in these areas to government departments and a number of Inquiries / Reviews.
Paul has been ranked as a Leading Junior for Inquests & Inquiries in both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 for several years.
