We are delighted to announce that Natalya Evans and Joseph Sworder have accepted offers to join Pump Court’s family team, following the successful completion of their probationary tenancies.
Natalya Evans (2022 call) specialises in both children and financial matters. She accepts instructions across all areas of family law, including matrimonial finance, private children, public children, and applications under the Family Law Act. She has acted in multi-day fact-finding hearings and is regularly instructed in final hearings, with experience in cases involving allegations of domestic abuse and complex factual disputes. She completed pupillage at a leading family law set in October 2025, assisting in a broad range of matters, from high-value financial remedy disputes to care proceedings involving allegations of serious non-accidental injury. Natalya worked as a paralegal at a boutique family law firm in Mayfair, where she gained experience across a wide range of private family law matters, particularly high-net-worth divorce, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and allegations of parental alienation. Before coming to the Bar, Natalya worked as a political adviser to senior figures in government, including the Secretary of State for Justice. She regularly undertakes pro bono work alongside her practice. Natalya speaks fluent conversational Russian.
Joseph Sworder (2025 call) specialises in all aspects of children law, with a particular emphasis on public and private law cases. Within public law, Joseph has extensive experience representing local authorities, parents, and children. He is regularly instructed in cases involving significant allegations of neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. Joseph is regularly instructed in cases that involve challenging and balanced welfare decisions for children, including disputes concerning sibling separation, placement order applications, and deprivation of liberty orders. Joseph’s practice includes all aspects of private children proceedings, including disputes involving domestic abuse, implacable hostility to contact, and substance misuse issues. He has a particular experience in representing vulnerable clients who require specialised client care. Joseph has significant experience in representing local authorities and has been described by instructing solicitors as “brilliant at working alongside clients” and an “outstanding advocate,” with advocacy that is “perfectly pitched for his audience.”
