Mark Ruffell and Stephanie Painter prosecuted 11 people, 7 of whom were responsible for an importation of 887kg of cocaine in a RHIB into Southampton on 8 July 2024

The men attempted to smuggle millions of pounds worth of cocaine into the UK from a container ship in the English Channel.

In total, officers seized more than 600kg of cocaine. The cocaine is believed to be worth between £44-64 million at street value.

The offenders were each convicted of one count of conspiracy to import cocaine into the UK and one count of conspiracy to supply it.
