Senior Barristers (10 years’+ experience)
Pump Court Chambers is a top-ranked, multi-disciplinary set recognised by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. We are home to over 120 barristers and 24 members of staff, with bases in London, Winchester, Canterbury and Swindon.
Our Employment & Discrimination Team continues to grow in strength and reputation, acting in complex, high-value and often sensitive matters across the full spectrum of employment and equality law. That growth is reflected in our performance: in 2024 the team delivered a 36% year‑on‑year increase, followed by a further 8% uplift in 2025. This sustained momentum is a direct reflection of the quality of work, advocacy and client relationships within the team. To build on this trajectory and meet increasing client demand, we invite applications from established practitioners with 10 years’+ experience.
The Practice
Members of the team are instructed in a wide range of contentious and advisory work, including:
- Discrimination and Equality Act claims
- Unfair and wrongful dismissal
- Whistleblowing
- TUPE and redundancy
- Restrictive covenants and injunctive relief
- Senior executive and partnership disputes
- Employment-related judicial review and appellate work
The team regularly acts in matters with a strong commercial, regulatory and international dimension, including cases arising from regulated sectors, cross-border employment relationships, internal investigations, disciplinary proceedings and employment issues linked to wider commercial disputes.
Our barristers appear in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal, High Court and Court of Appeal, and are instructed by a diverse client base including public bodies, corporates, regulators, educational institutions and private individuals. The team includes members who hold judicial or quasi-judicial roles such as in the Employment Tribunal, County Court and Medical Practitioner’s Tribunals. The Team also includes accredited mediators, further reflecting the depth of experience and our range of skillset within Chambers.
