The Defendant, accused of stabbing a family member twice, with a bladed article, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm but said he never had any intention to cause really serious harm. The Defendant said that he had simply gone too far in self-defence, and in response to being punched in the face during a fight.

The jury unanimously acquitted him of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
