The Defendant killed his mother, who was bedbound having suffered a stroke, by repeatedly hitting her in the face with a hammer. The Defendant told the police he was hearing voices which were telling him she was suffering.
The jury rejected the claim put forward by the Defence that the Defendant was guilty of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility and convicted of murder.
The Defendant will be sentenced later this year.
