Emily Lanham, led by Nick Tucker, secured convictions for husband-and-wife Defendants, in December last year. Both Defendants were convicted of controlling prostitution for gain and trafficking.

Between January 2022 and October 2024, they hosted female Chinese sex workers at two flats and controlled their work from those flats. The women who stayed at the defendants’ properties formed part of a network of Chinese sex workers who moved from place to place on a regular basis, staying for a week or two in one town and then moving on. The Defendants organised and dictated the work expected of the women whilst at their “shops”.

In return, the Defendants took a cut of 50% of the women’s earnings so long as they remained at their properties, earning more than £180,000.

They were sentenced to 2 years’ 1 month and 2 years’ 8 months immediate imprisonment, respectively.
