Ed Wylde prosecuted Diwan Khan, now convicted of rape, and Naheed Ejaz, now convicted of doing acts tending to and intended to pervert the course of public justice. Prior to trial, Mr Khan had pleaded guilty to doing acts tending to and intended to pervert the course of public justice.

Mr Khan raped an unconscious 15-year-old girl in the back of a car, having plied her with drugs and alcohol; he also filmed the offence and showed this video to the victim, making various threats to try to silence her. When the police attended the defendants’ shared address to arrest Mr Khan, Mr Khan instructed his mother (the ex-Mayor of Bracknell) to hide a mobile phone, believed to contain the video. His mother did so. The relevant phone has never been found. At the conclusion of an eight-day trial at Winchester Crown Court, the jury accepted the Crown’s case and convicted both Defendants on all counts.

The case has been covered in the national press, including The Times and Daily Mail.
