Casey appeared before the Court of Appeal to challenge the lawfulness of the sentence imposed on his client, advancing a focused and carefully structured argument as to why the sentence was unlawful. 

Having considered the submissions, the Court of Appeal concluded that the sentence was indeed unlawful and allowed the appeal. 

In its judgment, the Court of Appeal commended Casey’s advocacy, noting that he presented his submissions with “great skill and economy.”
