Rukan Hazar

Rukan Hazar is developing a broad practice covering all areas of Chambers’ work.

She accepts instructions at all stages of litigation in:

• family proceedings, including private children law, public children law, Family Law Act 1996, and family finance
• criminal matters, both in the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court
• civil matters, including small claim and fast track trials, interlocutory applications, CMCs, breach of contract, personal injury/RTA, claims under Consumer Credit Act 1974, property law, credit hire, debt recovery, personal and corporate insolvency, and infant settlement hearings.

Prior to pupillage, Rukan worked as a paralegal in the legal department of the National Crime Agency where she assisted on cases involving recovery of proceeds of crime under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. She also appeared before District Judges as a county court advocate across London and the Southeastern Circuit in possession matters. Prior to this, Rukan worked as a legal assistant to the Head of Chambers at a London set, gaining experience in health and safety, environmental, and regulatory matters.

During her Bar studies, she provided pro bono advice and representation in social security appeals before the First Tier Tribunal as well as child arrangement matters at East London Family Court.

Rukan is continuing her common law pupillage under the supervision of Emma Sole (civil), Elizabeth Spence (family), and Thomas Wilkins (crime).
