Jack Rundall’s practice focuses on family finance and private law children disputes. He regularly appears in all levels within the Family Court and provides written advice in all areas of family law, whether domestic or with an international element.

Before joining chambers, Jack undertook an MA in Politics and Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh before going on to study at The University of Law where he achieved the highest marks amongst his call group. He was awarded the Lord Brougham, Lord Denning Scholarships by Lincoln’s Inn and now acts as a mentor to students at the Inn seeking family law pupillages.

Legal Services

Jack has a particular interest in family finance disputes and has been involved in cases concerning complex non-matrimonial property arguments, non-disclosure issues and submissions on the status of properties owned by companies.  He has prepared advices on pre-nuptial agreements, Imerman documents, pension sharing orders and a lecture on the quantum of spousal maintenance for Jordan’s Family Law.  His experience in this area includes:

  • FDAs, FDRs and Final Hearings;
  • variation applications;
  • claims by cohabitants and former cohabitants under TOLATA 1996;
  • claims for financial provision for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1996;
  • freezing injunctions;
  • enforcement including committal applications;
  • drafting pre and post nuptial agreements; and
  • appeals

Recent cases include:  Velupillai & Others v Velupillai [2015] EWHC 3095, and a four-day final hearing where the issues included arguments about conduct, overseas properties and ‘add-backs’ due to one party’s wanton expenditure. Jack’s submissions in the Court of Appeal were recently were described by Arden LJ as “superb”.

Velupillai & Others v Velupillai [2015] EWHC 3095

Jack frequently represents clients involved in contact and residence disputes and has achieved successful results in countless fact-finding and final hearings. He has a particular interest in leave to remove cases and recently acted in a four-day hearing concerning cross applications where one party sought leave to take a child to Dubai and the other to India. He has experience in cases where the issues include physical, emotional and sexual abuse as well as those involving alcohol and substance misuse. He has successfully challenged expert evidence and persuaded courts to go against CAFCASS recommendations.

Successfully challenged a CAFCASS report recommending that a father should be prevented from seeing his children.

Jack regularly advises and represents clients in relation to applications for financial provision under the Inertance Act. Recent cases include advising the beneficiaries of the estate of a company director involved in a dispute with the deceased’s former co-directors and advising in a claim for reasonable provision where the deceased and his wife had been mid-way through divorce proceedings.
