Elliott Wright

Elliott is a criminal pupil at Pump Court Chambers.

During his first six, Elliott observed criminal proceedings, including a four-handed murder trial. He observed a range of cases across the criminal courts, including the prosecution arising from the orange paint protest at Stonehenge and a number of rape and serious sexual offences (RASSO) matters.

Elliott holds an MPhil in Theology and Religion from the University of Cambridge and is completing a DPhil at the University of Oxford. His undergraduate studies were undertaken in Rome, where he studied a mixture of classics, theology and philosophy. He subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law, achieving the top mark at his campus, before undertaking Bar training.

Before coming to the Bar, Elliott was a Catholic priest. His pastoral duties took him from Spain to Rome to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He later held different appointments in the UK, as a priest in Harrogate and Huddersfield. As part of his role, he worked as a prison chaplain at Regina Coeli Prison in Rome and at Wetherby Young Offender Institution as well as serving as a school governor in various primary and secondary schools.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Elliott studied and worked in Japan, where he wrote on culture and travel.

He speaks Italian and reads French.

Outside of work, Elliott is a keen gourmet and fitness enthusiast (the latter being an antidote to the former).
