Ed Wylde has swiftly developed a reputation as an effective and persuasive advocate, with an eloquent court manner and client-focused approach paired with detailed preparation.
Acting for both prosecution and defence, he regularly appears in the Crown Court, Youth Court, and the Court of Appeal. He also accepts instructions in respect of the courts martial, regulatory proceedings at the Nursing and Midwifery Council, road traffic law, and transport law.
His practice involves cases across the entire spectrum of criminal offences, acting alone or as a led junior, and with a focus on cases which involve the sensitive handling of witnesses; in particular, cases relating to sexual offences, controlling and coercive behaviour, and violence. Ed is a CPS Grade 3 advocate and is a member of the CPS RASSO panel. He recently was named as a Rising Star by the Legal 500.
Ed has significant experience in healthcare regulation having worked for a national healthcare regulator for a number of years prior to joining Pump Court Chambers. He welcomes instructions in particular relating to proceedings before the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Social Work England proceedings.
He has participated in every kind of hearing at the NMC, with a wealth of experience in substantive hearings, substantive order reviews, and interim order hearings; relating to subject matter as varied as widespread competency concerns, to criminal convictions, to professional misconduct, and allegations of dishonesty.
