Anthony Akiwumi

Anthony Akiwumi has been a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple since 1988. He has been a member of Pump Court Chambers since completion of his pupillage and prosecuted and defended criminal trials in the Crown Courts.

He was admitted as an Attorney of the Cayman Islands and has practised in this jurisdiction since 1997. He has an excellent command of the issues arising in the context of an increasingly regulated offshore environment. In 2002 Anthony was part of the team that successfully represented the Cayman Islands in its presentations to the OECD / FATF resulting ultimately, in the removal of the Cayman Islands from the List of non-co-operating jurisdictions.

Anthony has had many speaking engagements on the subject of offshore litigation. These include presentations at INSOL (2008 Vancouver Congress) on cross-border insolvency investigations, lectures in Cayman and New York on offshore litigation & recognition and appointment issues under the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross Border Insolvency.
