Andrew only gets involved in more complex private law proceedings, usually involving extra-jurisdictional issues, guardians for the child or children, significant allegations of domestic violence or abuse. He is also instructed in removal from the jurisdiction cases.
Andrew’s main instructions come from parents, although he also represents local authorities. He regularly encounters cases of neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse. However he also has experience of cases involving placement outside the jurisdiction and is aware of the practical problems, such as international social work assessments and immigration issues, associated with those types of cases.
Andrew is instructed regularly at all stages of the financial settlement (ancillary relief) process, from First Directions Appointment (FDA) through to final hearings. His cases range across simple transfer of tenancy cases to medium asset cases involving self-employed earners, small limited companies, farms and family trusts. He has experience in enforcing injunctive orders and final orders out of the jurisdiction. He has a particular interest in those cases involving bankruptcy elements, usually acting for the insolvency practitioners/trustees in bankruptcy but not exclusively so. He has undertaken advisory and drafting work on pre-nuptial agreements.
Andrew undertakes advisory and litigation work on personal bankruptcy issues. His work in this field together with his ancillary relief practice makes a valuable combination in those mixed jurisdiction family and chancery cases where both elements are at issue.
