Alice Scott joined Chambers in October 2019 following the successful completion of pupillage. She is building a broad practice with a focus on Civil, Employment Law and Inquiries.

Prior to joining Chambers, Alice worked as a Legal Advisor to Grenfell Tower survivors and was instrumental in establishing a new legal advice clinic with the University College London Centre for Access to Justice in Stratford, advising over 100 vulnerable people on social welfare law. In these roles Alice provided tribunal representation in benefit appeals and worked towards developing and influencing public policy in social security and housing law.

She also spent four-months in Houston, Texas, representing people facing the death penalty. Alice received the Sir John Priestly Scholarship from Inner Temple to complete the internship.

Legal Services

Alice has appeared in possession claims and advised on landlord and tenant disputes, including easements and service charge provisions.

Alice regularly appears in the County Court, acting for both Claimants and Defendants in applications for relief from sanction, costs, default judgment and bankruptcy petitions.

Alice often appears in fast track, small claims and stage 3 hearings, acting for Claimants and Defendants in RTA and personal injury claims and credit hire cases. Alice also provides advice in personal injury and Occupier’s Liability cases on a regular basis.

Alice has appeared in the Employment Tribunal at the preliminary stage in a broad spectrum of cases, including, claims under the Equality Act, unfair and constructive dismissal and whistleblowing.

Alice has been successful in securing a finding of disability under the Equality Act in the Employment Tribunal.

Alice has been instructed to advise both Claimants and Respondents on a broad range of Employment Law issues, including on settlement.

Alice has also advised in claims on a pro bono basis.

Alice is very keen to grow her employment law practice and welcomes instructions in this area.

Alice is a member of ELA.

Alice assisted Nigel Pascoe QC to produce a report into the deaths of five patients under the care of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. This was published in February 2020. Alice will also be assisting Nigel Pascoe QC in the next stage of public investigative hearings.

Alice is continuing to build her experience in private and public inquiries under the supervision of Nigel Pascoe QC and she has a special interest in developing this further.

During pupillage Alice spent 3 weeks at the Nursing and Midwifery Council and is keen to expand upon this experience. Alice is a member of the ARDL.

Alice accepts instructions in a variety of aviation matters. Alice’s aviation practice predominantly comprises of delay or cancellation claims under Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 and claims under the Montreal Convention for delay, damage and bodily injury.

Alice is available to draft pleadings and interim applications, as well as attend trial and interlocutory hearings.

Alice has dealt with applications for orders under section 8 Children Act 1989. She recognises the benefits of settlement at the FHDRA hearing in cases where there is scope for agreement and where further adversarial litigation may hinder the parties being able to move forward.

Alice is qualified as a Grade 1 CPS Panel Advocate.

Alice has regularly appeared in the Magistrates Court representing private clients charged with driving offences, with a focus on presenting special reasons and exceptional hardship arguments. She also has experience of defending and prosecuting in cases involving offences against the person and public order offences.

Alice has appeared in the Crown Court, representing the Probation Service and defendants at PTPH and mentions.
