Alexandra Gilmore

Call: 2005

Alexandra Gilmore is a family law barrister and trained mediator practising in all areas of matrimonial, public and children law.

Alexandra is a well respected barrister and is renowned for being a safe pair of hands for cases that involve complex factual and legal issues. Clients describe Alexandra as a robust and fearless advocate, with superb attention to detail. She compliments this with her advanced negotiation skills and high emotional intelligence to appreciate when cases demand a more conciliatory approach. Alexandra’s previous experience working in the psychology field before coming to the Bar lends itself to the delicate nature of complex family proceedings. In children law, she has significant experience in disputes concerning children where there are allegations of alienation, cases with an international element concerning child relocation, cases which involve children with mental and physical disabilities and cases involving domestic abuse and child abuse.

In family finance law, she has extensive experience in cases involving all aspects of division of matrimonial assets in this jurisdiction and on a cross jurisdictional basis. Her successful business experience previously in corporate accounts for Blue Chip companies before coming to be Bar lends itself to the complex areas of family finance arguments.

Alexandra welcomes enquiries at an early stage as to the merits of a case, to enable a case to run to a successful conclusion. She considers that the success of a case is largely determined by the early work that takes place. Similarly however, Alexandra is very experienced in unpicking cases that appear to be hopeless and then turn them around to a successful outcome. Alexandra is qualified to accept instructions from members of the public via the direct access scheme.
