Alejandra is a sought-after jury advocate with a busy criminal practice in the Crown Court and Courts Martial, instructed on behalf of both the Defence and the Prosecution.
Alejandra’s practice encompasses a wide range of offences including sexual offences, serious violence, offensive weapons, drugs, financial crime, dishonesty offences and POCA.
Regularly instructed as sole counsel in complex and sensitive cases, Alejandra has experience in cross-examining experts and dealing with vulnerable witnesses and defendants. She is meticulous with her case preparation, which allows her to represent her clients with mastery of the law and the facts.
Notable cases have involved rape in university halls, attempted rape by a non-commission officer in the Royal Army, alleged members of a Chilean Burglary gang, gang-related stabbings, attempted murder and historic sexual offences.
Alejandra is a native Spanish speaker, a Grade 3 Prosecutor and is direct access qualified.
Alejandra is being led by Sarah Jones QC in representing MB who is charged with multiple counts of assault of a child under 13 years by penetration and attempted rape.
Alejandra is instructed as sole counsel to represent MMJ who faces charges of attempted murder and unlawful wounding with intent following a gang-related stabbing.
Alejandra is instructed to represent ARF, who is charged with Rape. The case involves pre-recorded cross-examination (section 28).
Alejandra was led by Sarah Jones QC in representing AB who was charged with Manslaughter and Attempted Robbery.
Alejandra’s client, an ex-soldier, was facing section 20 GBH charges arising out of a fight in a pub.
Following a week-long trial, the thorough cross-examination of the 5 prosecution eye-witnesses and a confession by the Defendant at the police interview, Alejandra’s client was acquitted of all counts on the indictment.
Alejandra represented a Defendant charged with Perverting the Course of Justice by making a false allegation to the police to assist a friend with a fraudulent car insurance claim.
Following guilty pleas and Alejandra’s persuasive plea in mitigation, the Defendant was sentenced to a conditional discharge.
Following Alejandra’s vigorous cross-examination of the complainant, the judge stopped the case and R was acquitted of all counts on the indictment.
R was charged with section 18 wounding with intent to cause GBH and attempted section 18 wounding with intent to cause GBH. It was alleged that following a one-on-one fight with the complainant, R had stabbed the complainant in the face with a kitchen knife and attempted to throw hot oil over him.
Alejandra represented H before the Crown Court at Swindon facing charges of sexual assault. It was alleged that H had followed a 15-year old girl on her way to school and while on a small and isolated road, H lifted up the complainant’s school skirt and touched her buttocks. The complainant picked out H in an ID parade and made various statements to the police describing the perpetrator. There were a number of other ID witnesses in this matter.
Following a finding of unfitness to plead and Alejandra’s robust challenging of the prosecution’s identification evidence, the jury returned Not Guilty verdicts.
Alejandra represented SM charged with 4 counts of making indecent images of children, 1 count of possessing a paedophile manual and 1 count of extreme pornography.
Following his guilty plea on all counts, Alejandra persuaded the judge to impose a suspended sentence despite the severity and extreme nature of the paedophile manual.
Alejandra represented P at a 3 day trial for having a bladed article, namely a knife, and affray.
The Crown’s case was reliant on numerous eye witnesses and a bad character application for recent similar offences. After the successful exclusion of the bad character and the thorough cross-examination of the Crown’s witnesses, the jury acquitted P after 30 minutes of deliberations.
Following a two-day trial, Alejandra secured Not Guilty verdicts for her client who was charged with ABH arising out of a domestic relationship.
Following a 3-week trial with four defendants, Alejandra’s client – the second defendant – was acquitted of offences under the perjury act.
Alejandra has experience representing members of the Armed Forces in the UK. Her experience involves advising service personnel on various offences under the Armed Forces Act as well as general criminal offences.
Alejandra represented L/Cpl G who was charged with Attempted Rape and Sexual Assault.
Alejandra successfully represented Corporal L in an appeal against sentence and conviction.
Following a guilty plea, Alejandra represented Private RB at the sentencing hearing for misconduct offences which involved the victim suffering a fractured eye socket. Following Alejandra’s mitigation, the defendant was sentenced to a fine.
Alejandra represented Trouper B who faced charges of racially aggravated public order offences.
Alejandra represented Fusilier H who faced a charge of ABH.
Alongside her criminal practice, Alejandra is keen to develop her experience in regulatory and disciplinary matters.
Alejandra is frequently instructed to act in private prosecutions under the Environmental Protection Act and has defended in environmental cases prosecuted by Natural England.
Alejandra has experience of motoring matters in the Magistrates’ Courts and the Crown Court. She has appeared in cases involving drink driving, dangerous driving, totting up disqualification, exceptional hardship and special reasons.
Alejandra also has experience representing appellants following the refusal of private hire licences by TFL.
Alejandra represented ‘T’ at trial for dangerous driving.
Alejandra represented the appellant in an appeal against TFL’s refusal to grant a private hire licence.
Alejandra successfully appealed a conviction for a failure to identify the driver (section 172). The appeal was allowed on a technical point of law raised by Alejandra during a legal argument and in closing submissions.
Alejandra successfully represented her client charged with being in charge whilst over the prescribed alcohol limit. The Crown’s case relied upon body worn footage from the officers present at the scene, showing the defendant highly intoxicated while sat in the driver’s side of the vehicle. Alejandra secured the acquittal by identifying failures by the police to take into consideration the defendant’s proximity to his home address and producing defence evidence to corroborate the defendant’s story.
