In this episode, Maria Henty talks to Annette Henry KC about the Harman Report and also about harassment and bullying at the Bar more generally. Annette is the founder of Owning Your Wellbeing, Work – a Life Wellbeing Consultant.
The Harman Report is an independent review commissioned by the Bar Council to address bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment within the Bar. The report, published in September 2025, includes 36 recommendations aimed at reforming behavioural standards among barristers and on the bench. The report highlights the systemic issues faced by the Bar and calls for urgent action to prevent and address misconduct.
Annette Henry KC practised as a Criminal Law barrister, then later explored Mental Health Law. With this came a deeper understanding of the people affected by mental health issues and the systems they have to navigate to get help. She wrote a practitioner’s guide to mental health, and also worked with the Mental Health Act Commission and presided over mental health review tribunals.
