Roy Donnelly joins Pump Court Chambers as a tenant

Many congratulations to Roy Donnelly, who has joined Chambers as a tenant.

Roy specialises in health professional regulatory and disciplinary matters, clinical negligence, inquests / inquiries, and general health law advice.

Roy has medical and business qualifications and practised as a doctor and senior medical manager in Australia for many years prior to becoming a lawyer. He was admitted to the New South Wales Bar in 2017 and called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2023.

Roy has significant experience advising and representing nurses, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and HCPC professionals in complex regulatory matters, and representing GP’s and other practitioners at inquests. Before relocating to the UK, Roy managed a busy practice in Australia in clinical negligence, health practitioner regulation, and provided advice in complex matters of health law, research governance and research misconduct. He was legal advisor and a deputy chair at one of Australia’s busiest human research ethics committees.

In terms of clinical negligence Roy has a unique blend of medical and legal knowledge with experience advising on claims across a wide range of medical, surgical, obstetric, and other specialist fields.
