Following a three-week trial at Bournemouth Crown Court, Ainsley Greer was found guilty of the attempted murder of a neighbour in a hostel in Bournemouth. The victim suffered life-changing injuries to his brain, most of his ribs were fractured and his ankle severely broken. This was a complex trial which involved a number of prosecution witnesses who suffered with vulnerabilities and addictions. There were also a number expert witnesses who gave evidence relating to psychiatric and neurological issues relating to the defendant, such that the defence argued he was unable to form specific intent due to a previous traumatic brain injury.
The sentencing hearing will take place in May.
Rebecca Fairbairn led Christopher Pix on behalf of the Crown.
