Jennifer Lee and Samara Brackley ranked as Leading Family Law Barristers in the Spear’s Legal Indices 2024

News 12th June 2024

Pump Court is delighted to announce that Jennifer Lee and Samara Brackley have been ranked as two of the best family law barristers for high-net-worth clients in the UK in the Spear’s 500 Legal Indices 2024.

Listed as a “name to know”, Jennifer has been ranked in the index as one of the ‘Top Recommended’ barristers for her work in financial remedies and taxation, and in complex children (modern families). Jennifer told Spear’s: ‘My practice is mainly matrimonial finance. A lot of it concerns cases with international elements, either assets overseas, or where there are disputes about whether England is the correct jurisdiction, or whether a foreign marriage is recognised in England. There are often complications around tax.’ Modern families and children law are another specialism (see for example the landmark Court of Appeal case of Re S (Children: Parentage and Jurisdiction) [2023] EWCA Civ 987)). ‘I’ve been very lucky in coming to the bar in 2007. I came from a commercial arbitration background, but when I started my pupillage I realised that there’s no better, more exciting and boundary-pushing area of law than family. My first pupil master was a financial remedy specialist, and I was hooked from day one.’ Read Jennifer’s full profile at Spears500.com.

Samara returns as a ‘Top Recommended’ barrister this year for her focus on Cohabitation and Contested Divorce and is highlighted for her work on the landmark Court of Appeal case involving same-sex parents, one of whom resides in the Middle East (Re S (Children: Parentage and Jurisdiction) [2023] EWCA Civ 987). She was brought to the attention of Spear’s following a “glowing recommendation from a fellow family lawyer” and is “highly regarded in the industry for her expertise”.
