George Mathieson, of RBC Brewin Dophlin, who needs no introduction as a recognised pensions expert and member of the Pensions Advisory Group (PAG), will join Imogen Robins for a pensions update. We are very grateful to George, who is a veteran of the Breakfast Briefing.

A special mention must go to Debra Emery and Charlotte Millard of Moore Barlow LLP, who have been kind enough to host the Breakfast Briefing for us.

This promises to be a lively and interactive session, to ensure that those in attendance are confident advising clients at every stage of a case. It will cover the essential points to consider and the pitfalls to avoid, taking into account the latest developments in this important and often complex area.

The recent changes in the divorce laws have meant that vital pension advice is still not getting through to some divorcing couples. Many are missing out on what can be a significant asset by failing to obtain legal advice.

We will aim to cover:

• The latest case law including CMX v EJX [2022] EWFC 136 and YC v ZC [2022] EWFC 137;
• The changes in the tax rules;
• Offsetting and the Galbraith Tables;
• The AFPS and other public sector pensions;
• Second marriages and how to minimise the risks to those with significant pension assets.
