Pump Court Ranked recognised as Top Ranked Set in Chambers & Partners Guide

Pump Court Chambers has once again been recognised as a Leading Set within the latest edition of the Chambers and Partners Guide. The highly respected annual guide, released today, ranks both counsel and chambers based on the research of more than 170 full-time editors and researchers who talk to lawyers and clients all year round, conducting in-depth telephone interviews to establish which sets have the expertise and quality to appear within the rankings.

 

Within Family and Matrimonial, Pump Court has once again been recognised as the “go-to set” with our Band 1 ranking. Observers stated: “The clerking service is thorough and approachable. They are always available to discuss a bespoke approach to a client. Their offering is known as being quality from top to bottom. They make it their duty to get to know instructing solicitors.” “The clerking service is really excellent – friendly, personal, responsive and accurate. I struggle to see how it could be improved, frankly.” A special mention to Edward Boydell who has been recognised as a star inidividual;  one of of only six to acheive this ranking within the area of matrimonial finance throughout the whole of the UK. Within the criminal law section, our well-regarded team, has been noted for its expert handling of a wide range of criminal matters, with members regularly instructed for both the prosecution and defence in cases involving serious crimes such as murder, drugs-related matters and serious sexual offences. Additional areas of strength for the team include fraud and cases relating to serious violence. James Newton-Price QC and Sarah Jones QC continue to receive praise from the market.

 

Pump Court Chambers also ranks within ecclesiastical law with our established practitioners recognised for their expertise in the consistory courts and the Court of Arches’, as well as being ‘Well versed in handling religious discrimination and human rights cases, church property and relic matters, and employment and discipline work as it relates to the clergy’. A big congratulations to Paul Mertens who has been ranked for the first time within the inquests and public inquiries section. He is noted for being “analytically sharp, diligent and organised in his work.” Paul’s ranking comes on the back of a strong year for the team in which members have been instructed in some of the leading public inquiries such as The Grenfell Tower Inquiry and the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.
