Speakers

George Mathieson; Mathieson Consulting Ltd

George MathiesonGeorge founded Mathieson Consulting Ltd in 2008. With a background in Banking and Pensions, George has over 35 years of experience in finance. Very quickly George established a reputation for providing Expert Witness report, in clear English. Demand for such reports rapidly increased and George then embarked on a strategy of recruiting a team of Actuaries, who rapidly established themselves as experts in this field, supported by one of the most highly qualified team of administrative staff, with unrivalled knowledge and skills in pensions.

George is a regular speaker at many Conferences and Professional Training events, where he is applauded for imparting his knowledge in a clear (and sometimes amusing) way. At his lecture to the FLBA in 2016 he challenged lawyers, experts, and academics alike to come together to form a multi-disciplinary body to make more consistent the treatment of pensions in divorce. This was the start of the Pension Advisory Group (PAG).

Jonathan Galbraith, Mathieson Consulting Ltd

Jonathan Galbraith (FIA 2009) is an experienced pensions actuary who has written over 400 expert witness reports in respect of pensions on divorce.  He has also advised in employment tribunal and personal injury cases in respect of losses of pension rights since he joined Mathieson Consulting in 2017.  Prior to this, Jonathan worked as a corporate pensions actuary at PwC, primarily advising companies on the management of legacy final salary pension schemes.  He participates in a regular online webinars for solicitors and has recently co-authored an article that appeared in Family Law Review (December 2020).
