Penny Howe appointed as Queen’s Counsel

Pump Court is delighted to announce the upcoming appointment of Penny Howe as Queen’s Counsel. We look forward to celebrating with Penny on 13th February 2017, when she will take her oath at the ceremony in the House of Lords.’
Penny specialises in care and adoption proceedings. Her expertise lies in lengthy and serious care proceedings, including those involving parallel criminal proceedings. She regularly represents parents, children and local authorities and has undertaken work for CAFCASS Legal and the Official Solicitor. Penny’s experience includes cases involving the multiple deaths of children, serious injury including “baby shaking”, and fictitious illness.
She also has considerable experience of High Court applications for press injunctions to prevent the publication of sensitive personal material arising out of care proceedings. Penny has a special interest in adoption work. She is a trustee of Adoption UK (a national support charity for adopters) and is particularly interested in the issue of post adoption contact in the context of new social media.
