Mrs Goy has been a forensic scientist since 1998 and specialises in biology cases, including DNA, blood patterns and body fluids. She is instructed in a wide range of cases including serious sexual assaults and murder. Mrs Goy previously worked at the Forensic Science Service, where she was responsible for biology casework and training other staff. Mrs Goy will be talking about new DNA technologies, including DNA profiling methods and statistical interpretation. She will also discuss how DNA results are reported, since the introduction of Streamlined Forensic Reporting (SFR), and associated limitations.
Mrs Allan joined KBC in 2012 after the closure of the Forensic Science Service and has over 20 years’ experience in forensic science. Her expertise covers a range of evidence types, including footwear marks, glass fragments, textile fibres and handwriting. Mrs Allan will be speaking on current issues in footwear mark cases, particularly since the fragmentation of forensic services following the closure of the FSS.
