From 1 July 2015 the work of the Transport Tribunal was split. Traffic Commissioners’ work became a part of the Upper Tribunal (UTAAC) and Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency work transferred to the First-tier tribunal in the General Regulatory Chamber (GRC).

The Road Traffic Act 1988 (Alcohol Limits) (Amendment) Bill (HL Bill 23) is a Private Members’ Bill and passed its first reading in the House of Lords on 3 June 2015. A date has not yet been set for a second reading. The stated intention of the Bill is to Amend the Road Traffic Act 1988 to lower the prescribed limit of alcohol in relation to driving or being in charge of a vehicle; and for connected purposes.’ Section 1 reduces the prescribed limits of Alcohol Prescribed limit of alcohol from 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath to 22 microgrammes; from 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood to 50 millilitres and from 107 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine to 67 milligrammes.
