Pump Court Chambers is a barristers’ set fit for the modern business world.
As a large provider of legal services, Pump Court Chambers is recognised as 'top ranked' and 'a leading set' by Chambers and Partners Guide to the UK Legal Profession. We are highly regarded by our peers for the depth of our expertise across the full range of contentious legal services.
Our clients tell us that what really sets Pump Court Chambers apart is our attitude to client service – our barristers’ unstuffy approach and 'can do' attitude, and our ability to give clear advice that makes sense in the world outside the Temple. Supported by one of the best clerking teams at the Bar, this adds up to a set that really knows what client service truly means.
Established over 70 years ago, we have specialists in all forms of Common Law work: Family, Crime and Civil. Although based in London and on the Western Circuit, the work done by our barristers extends throughout the UK and abroad. Members of Chambers appear in all levels of courts and offer the highest quality advocacy and advisory services. Many of our barristers sit as part time judges in a variety of courts and tribunals and we have a proud record of having provided numerous accomplished and highly respected Judges to the Circuit Bench and other senior judicial posts.
We are committed to professional excellence and always work to the highest ethical standards. We have a dedicated and accomplished team of support staff to help us provide our clients with the best possible service. We are proud to be one of the first chambers to gain Quality Mark, the Legal Services Commission standard for a good set of chambers.
We are committed to equal opportunities and to serving the public through all forms of publicly funded work, mediation and pro bono work. We are a multiracial and multicultural set with barristers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
We thrive on diversity. We celebrate that our members come from diverse ethnic, racial, religious and social backgrounds. Our latest equality and diversity survey results show that 42% of our barristers are female, that our barristers have different religious, political and philosophical views. We have a strong LGBT presence in chambers.
We are one of only 3 (we think) sets of chambers in the UK which is led by a BME silk: Oba Nsugbe QC, and prior to our former joint head of chambers' appointment to the bench (HHJ Jane Miller QC) we were the only set of chambers in the UK led by a female silk and a BME silk. The age range in chambers spans from 19 to 75. We strive to comply with the Bar Council's Equality and Diversity Code and have our own policy which is available on request.
We make reasonable adjustments for disabled employees and members and we regularly review our parental leave, flexible working, harassment and equal opportunities policies. We speak the following languages: French, Spanish, German, Polish, Swiss German, Hindi, Urdu, Chinese (Mandarin) and English.

Due to the nature of work at the Bar, all members of chambers handle, store, transport or send personal data on a daily basis. Indeed, much of this data is ‘Sensitive Personal Data’ within the meaning of the Data Protection Act 1998 and members of chambers comply with the requirements of the Act.
We have a Data Protection Policy and all members of chambers, including staff, are required to read and adhere to the principles contained within it. A copy of this policy can be obtained from Tony Atkins, our Senior Clerk.
We strive to maintain a very high level of service and we are proud of our reputation for excellent customer service. However, if you have any feedback for us or wish to make a complaint please click here to download Chambers' policy or email Tony Atkins, our Senior Clerk.
